TELUS Brain Project

The Brain Project has driven almost 4 million in revenue since it’s inception in 2015 by partnering with over 100 artists from across the globe to conceptualize and interpret their thoughts, ideas and stories about brain health through art.

Our talented team of Brain Creators are made up from an array of painters, sculptors, musicians, broadcasters, performance artists, creative thinkers and public figures who apply their own mediums to blank brain sculptures, transforming them into thought provoking works of art that embody the notion: “no brain deserves to go blank”

Every piece is unique and deeply personal to its creator is designed to ignite a conversation about brain health while raising awareness on the vital work underway at Baycrest to defeat mental health and dementia by funding the crucial innovation and research needed to advance our understanding and care of brain health.

RAINING COWS "Head Castle"

Date: 2023

This colourful, “Head Castle” represents a fortress protecting the precious mind that cannot seem to ever find peace. We need to still protect it with all the colours of the sky, if not the darkness will win. Inside is still dark with yellow splashes of hope.

Hope is one of the most powerful emotions a person can have. Combine it with determination and there’s no stopping you.

RAINING COWS, “Blue Sun”

Date: 2017

The artist’s life came to a screeching halt after the tragic and violent death of his brother and best friend. Everything positive and creative was replaced by darkness. His world was upside down. He was extremely depressed. He thought there was no hope. One day he took an old canvas from his closet and started painting these "Raining Cows."

After he started, he could not stop. He created this imaginary world to cope with reality. He painted these floating creatures to help him with the traumatic experiences he has had. It is therapy for him. It is his outlet. The "Raining Cows" encourage and motivate him to keep going regardless of what happened in his past. The Sun is still Blue but soon it will rise and the fire in him will blaze red once again.
